Show more Motorola enters the ultra-premium smartphone segment with the launch of the flagship Motorola Signature 27, a smartphone focused on high performance, long-range photography and artificial intelligence. Debuted at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit 2026, the smartphone is one of the first announced devices powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 mobile platform from Qualcomm.
Meanwhile, the new flagship Motorola is also being quite ambitious with smartphone photography, with its 200MP periscope telephoto camera, and a premium aluminium-and-ceramic design as well as advanced cooling and Google AI features elsewhere.

What is the Signature 27?
The Signature 27 is a new flagship by the brand Motorola and makes a comeback with the premium phone segment. This flagship will sit on top of the existing Edge family of smartphones.
Although the device’s full specs and final pricing have not yet been disclosed by Motorola, the company has revealed that the Signature 27 will be available worldwide in 2023.
Among the main attractions is the processor. The phone has taken a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, a next-generation flagship processor designed for resource-intensive things like gaming, AI applications, image processing, and others.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
Now this new Qualcomm platform will be at the heart of Motorola’s flagship strategy. The new Snapdragon platform offers on-device AI, camera and gaming processing, and 5G connectivity.
But for gamers and AI users who push their devices through extensive graphic-intensive gaming or application use, the ability to sustain maximum performance can be as important. It was for this reason Motorola has announced it is bringing Arctic Mesh thermal architecture to the table. It has assembled a new 3D vapour chamber with liquid-metal components, copper mesh and diamond-infused thermal gel.
Motorola claims that the larger cooling design is approximately 40% larger than previous generations to help manage the increased heat output over extended workloads.
200MP Periscope Camera Is the Major Highlight
On the image side of things, Motorola is also raising the spec. The Signature 27 is equipped with a periscope telephoto camera with 200MP sensor, an odd amount of pixels for long-distance shots.
This is a camera that will hold detail when you are zooming into a scene or cropping in. This is combined with a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor giving it a flagship-oriented camera system rather than a MP figure.
The new feature is an on-the-fly Video Enhancement Engine driven by AI that records while recognising the environment and changes the tone or colour accordingly. The phone is also equipped with optical image stabilisation to counter act the shaking of hands.
Google Gemini Adds AI to Signature 27
Signature 27 is comprised of several elements, including another big one in the form of artificial intelligence. Motorola has embedded Google Gemini into it, where you find Gemini Omni that can be used to transform photos, video clips, and prompts into new video content.
The phone has Google Lyria to produce music and soundtracks, providing a creative layer of AI that is not traditionally available with most smartphones.
Motorola has also promised to provide seven years of OS upgrades – which could mean it has a longer lifespan when it comes to software support than a lot of other Android phones.
Premium Design and Bang & Olufsen Audio
It has a premium body with a sleek aluminium body and camera module consisting of ceramic and brushed aluminium, finished by Motorola.
The device will come in finishes like Capulet Olive/Green and Coal Smoke, both of which will feature textured surfaces to set the phone apart from glass-backed flagships.
A third addition worthy of note is Audio by Bang & Olufsen. The Signature 27 is the first Motorola phone to include the audio collaboration, another point of distinction for the hardware.
Motorola Signature 27 vs iPhone 18 Pro
Motorola is stepping into a space where Apple’s new Pro models feature high-powered chips, high-end cameras and ongoing software updates. The iPhone 18 Pro has the Apple A20 Pro chip and triple 48-megapixel back cameras, for instance, while Motorola is playing up the Snapdragon series and 200-megapixel periscope camera.
Nevertheless, there are some stark divergences. Motorola is trumpeting high-res optical zoom, deep cooling hardware, and Google’s generative AI capabilities. Apple is sticking with its flagship experience that continues to be centered on its own silicon, camera processing, and the Apple Intelligence ecosystem.
A straightforward real-world comparison will be based on the camera quality, battery life, software optimisation and prices, when Motorola reveals the full specifications.
Price and Availability
Motorola has not announced the price for the Signature 27 or an official retail release date. Motorola has announced that the smartphone will be launched worldwide some time in 2026.
What you need to know: The Signature 27 is apparently the South Korean flagship that intends to take on the likes of the One Plus 12. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 CPU, 200MP periscope camera, deep thermal system, Gemini integration, and seven-year software commitment.
And finally, the question is whether Motorola can marry up these headline specs with a good price and slick software. Full specs of the device are expected before it launches commercially.
